Home Sweet Home

Due to several requests and no cable, here is my project for the night-- displaying our home on my blog. It feels more and more like home/bed bath and beyond, and less like an old moldy city home. We both love being at home.

oh, and p.s. I am not a decorator, so any hints would be helpful.

This is our lovely-very Pittsburgh, home. We live on the first floor. We have upstairs neighbors that are russian--sometimes they fight (well the wife yells at the husband) and we can almost hear EVERY word, but it's all in russian, so Sean and I make up what they are fighting about.

Standing on our front porch looking to the left. This is a typical Pittsburgh neighborhood- old, tall, brick homes packed tightly together.

Do you like Sean's pull-up bar? That was one of the first things we had to find a place for, but sadly, it was one of the last items to be hung.

Our looonnnggg bathroom.

The end of the bathroom

Our free couch, lovely quilt and soft rug (all wonderful gifts we were given), make our living room feel like home and less like an old Pittsburgh house.

One of my favorite bridal shower gifts-- F-A-M-I-L-Y from my sisters and mom, fits nicely on top of our door to the office/guest room/unorganized storage space. While Sean's dad, Bruce, and uncle, Collin, were out in Pittsburgh they helped put our place together-- it was such a help and we were happy to see them here in Pittsburgh, and sad to see them go.

The pictures on that wall are all going to be different family photos. The empty frame is supposed to have my family picture(that we took at Christmas) in it, but it hasn't arrived yet. We hope to make that wall a big collage of pictures. Looks like we will have to putty it up when we move. The burnt orange chair is also a free gift. I know the color isn't the greatest, but it is very comfortable to sit in.

I promise our bedding isn't that shiny. Sean still feels like a man when he sleeps at night.

The bed was set up against the wall with windows. We enjoyed how it made the room feel, but I couldn't blocking the windows- I love having a bright room, and it was blocking some of the light.

Yes, Sean and I like to do puzzles... that is one stuffed under our bed.

Very nice Rachel. Thank you for the tour because now when I think of the two of you I can picture you in your sweet home. The view of the neighborhood reminded me of areas of Columbus. G'pa and I first home was an upstairs furnished apartment in Glendale,CA.
We also had a married couple under us who were noisy. It was fun to get our own little apt that we could do our own way...which is where we were when your Mom was born, such fun. Love, G'ma N.

So cute! I love it. Which one of you sleeps on the top bunk? lol.
It's bad feng shui to have a window right above your bed anyhow.

Oh, and to lessen the putty work when you move--use "Hercules Hooks" to hang pics--they just make a tiny hole & you don't have to use a hammer! At BedBath&Beyond.

I L-O-V-E your shower curtain-- where did you get it?? Please tell me (email me, text me, whatever!)! And I'm so impressed with all your decorating. You've hung more stuff up on your walls than I have-- and I've been in my home for 2+ years! You guys have such a cute life. I'm so happy for you!

Good think you posted pictures so I could see you house. If it isn't going to be in person, a blog will have to do :)

Ummm, totally embarrassed. Okay, I'll admit that I haven't gone on your blog in a really long time, so today I tell myself, "I wonder if this girl is engaged yet, of course there would be a post about that, right?" Then I pull your blog up and see wedding photos, talk about shock and yes, embarrassment! Putting my bashfulness aside, I am so excited for you and you deserve the best and from what I can tell, you married a sweet looking hunk. Best of luck to you and your new little family. BTW, my hair has never been the same since I moved :-(

P.S. I know you told where you lived in Washington before but of course until I read an earlier post I don't think I really realized that girl, I am pretty sure your home ward is in my stake. After living down below Seattle for awhile, we bought a house up in Marysville. Okay, maybe I might get to see you again someday when you come visit.

Your house looks like you did a great job decorating and it doesn't look old like the typical Pitt houses.
